The 'Golden Rules' of Workstation Setup
Set up your workstation to maintain natural spinal curves:
- Monitor Height: The top one-third of your screen should sit at eye level. Tilting your head forward by 60 degrees ('Tech Neck') increases cervical spine load from 5 kg to 27 kg!
- Chair & Lumbar Support: Adjust chair height so your feet rest flat on the floor with knees at a 90-degree angle. Use a firm lumbar roll to support your lower back curve.
- Keyboard & Mouse Placement: Keep elbows bent at 90 degrees close to your torso. Avoid resting wrists heavily on hard desk edges to prevent Median nerve compression (Carpal Tunnel).
20-20-20 Micro-break Protocol
Every 30 to 45 minutes, stand up for 60 seconds. Perform gentle backward lumbar extensions (standing hands-on-hip backward arch) and chin tucks to reset cervical disc alignment.
When to Consult an Orthopedic Specialist
If you experience persistent tingling in fingers, radiating arm pain, or severe morning lower back stiffness, early clinical evaluation prevents permanent nerve or disc degeneration.
